Lucas de Lima Psychotherapist/Graduate Intern (MHC-I)

A bald man with a beard wearing a black button-up shirt stands outdoors with blurred nature trees and sunlight in the background.

Lucas believes every person deserves a radically nonjudgmental space for self-exploration. They approach therapy as a collaborative process of honoring all parts of a client's life—including those that feel messy, heavy, or hidden.

Lucas earned a PhD in Comparative Literature and Literary Theory from the University of Pennsylvania and is completing a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling at Queens College, CUNY. Their path into clinical work began in poetry. As a published writer, perfomer, and creative writing professor, Lucas saw how much power language holds in making meaning of lived experiences. By harnessing this power, they encourage clients to rewrite their most intimate narratives and live as fully and authentically as possible.

As a queer, nonbinary Latinx person, Lucas is committed to social justice, sex positivity, and trauma-informed care. They specialize in working with LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, ADHD, migrant, and creative individuals. They also work with folks in non-monogamous relationships and people who are navigating grief, loss, anxiety, and life transitions.

Lucas is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish.
