Meet OUR Team: Anna
The Meet OUR Team series continues with Dr. Anna Dega, an accomplished clinician, researcher, and university professor. I got to know Anna through our PhD journey, and continue to admire her energy, dedication, and passion for this work.
What drew you to becoming a therapist?
I’ve always been drawn to understanding people and their stories. The human capacity for growth, even in the midst of pain, has always inspired me. Becoming a therapist felt like the most meaningful way to help others navigate life’s challenges while honoring their unique journey.
What kind of clients do you work with the best?
I work best with clients who are open to exploring their emotions and committed to self-discovery. People who are navigating big life transitions, relationship challenges, or finding their voice resonate deeply with my approach. I value honesty and collaboration, and I thrive when clients bring their authentic selves to therapy.
What’s one experience that shaped how you practice today?
Early in my career, I worked with a client who taught me that healing isn’t linear. Their resilience despite repeated setbacks highlighted the importance of holding space for both progress and pain. That experience reminds me to meet clients where they are and honor their pace.
What do you hope clients take away from working with you?
I hope clients leave our work together feeling more connected to themselves and empowered to make meaningful changes. I want them to know they are not alone in their struggles. Ultimately, I hope they find the courage to live a life that aligns with their deepest values and needs.
What’s a book, show, or podcast you’re currently enjoying?
Right now, I’m really into The Pitt, a medical drama that captures the intensity and emotional weight of working in an ER. Watching the staff navigate high-stakes situations and personal struggles highlights the intersection of trauma and resilience. It reminds me of how therapy can be a safe space for processing these experiences, offering support and understanding amidst life’s emergencies.
